The 6 essential strategies for succeeding at eLearning

Uncategorized Mar 03, 2018

If you want to succeed at eLearning then you might want to develop a plan off these six strategies.  Nothing in life worth achieving is easy.  The amount of effort and planning you put into your online learning will directly impact the level of success you achieve. So check out these six strategies:

  1. Get your tech skills ready
Nothing will deflate your eLearning experience like not having the right equipment or tech savvy.  Therefore make sure your computer meets the general requirements of your school's system.  If your computer or online browsing ability is not what it should be, consider some free online courses to help beef up your computer skills.  There's many you can choose from, but some of the ones we recommend are: Alison, GCF Learn Free, and then one that costs $$ by Udemy.
  2. Set a schedule
If you don't make specific time to work on your courses, then you will steadily fall off course and find yourself behind with work piling up in order to finish.  Take a look at your home schedule, work schedule, or whatever you have going on consistently.  Then carve out specific times and days you will dedicate to your coursework.  Try to build in flexibility to your schedule, but once you land on your learning schedule, it must become a priority and sacred space.  Don't set an unrealistic schedule, because you will likely miss the mark and get discouraged which will negatively impact your will to work on school.
  3. Be organized
Nothing creates chaos more than disorganization. Take a look at your course syllabus, it is meant to help you organize yourself for the course.  You can see your professor's expectations of you for the class and mark down assignments, assessments, and other course related activity. You might consider creating virtual folders in cloud based storage solutions like Google or Dropbox.  Each course can have its own folder, and that becomes home base for all your assignments, papers, and more.
  4. Reach out to your instructors early
Your professors are there to help.  Let them know you are ready for their class and eager to learn.  It is not about being a brown-noser, but a little attention toward the professor can go a long way!  Besides, your professors want you to succeed and they want to connect with their students.
  5. Create a consistent school zone
One of the best ways you can keep motivated and on top of your eLearning is to make a place in your home or apartment dedicated to your coursework.  Creating a dedicated, consistent place to work will build good habits for finishing and earning your degree.
  6. Establish your community of support
No one should go through life alone.  Deciding to advance your career or create a new opportunity for yourself comes with a lot of work and dedication.  There will be times when you feel tired or defeated, and that's when you need a healthy community of support around you.  Find mature, loving people who want you to succeed and can be there for you when things are tough.
